University of California Santa Cruz uses Gentec-EO’s UP19K-15S-H5-INT to teach in its laboratories

Following our most recent edition of the Laser Lab awards, we received news from one of the winners who is clearly making a great use of its prize: a UP19K-15S-H5-INT laser power meter.
This all-in-one laser power meter allows the customer to plug the power detector directly in its computer using a USB connector. The user then reads the measurement on its computer thanks to Gentec-EO’s free proprietary software.

Directly from Professor George Brown from the Physics department of University of California Santa Cruz, here is how the measurement instrument is being used:
"At the University of California, Santa Cruz, we have established an advanced optics teaching laboratory, consisting of a suite of ten experiments demonstrating important optical techniques. Many of these experiments utilize relatively high-powered lasers, which we ask the students to characterize with the power meter. Examples of such experiments include Fourier Optics, Dynamic Light Scattering, Adaptive Optics, Surface Plasmon Resonance, and Quantum Entanglement. The photograph shows the Dynamic Light Scattering experiment, with the UP-19K Wattmeter, to the right, measuring the laser power. In the background is our new quantum interference and entanglement experiment."
