Quebec City, QC, Canada, September 08, 2026 - Gentec-EO announces the release of the UP100R-50S-H12-INT-D0, the largest thermopile laser power detector in its portfolio, specifically designed for accurate measurement of large, low-power laser beams. Featuring a 100 mm aperture, low-noise performance, and an ultra-thin profile, the UP100 addresses a long-standing challenge in the laser industry: accurately measuring wide beams at low power levels.
Current large-aperture laser power detectors are typically designed for high-power applications, making them less suitable for measuring low-power beams due to increased noise and reduced measurement sensitivity. The UP100 fills this gap by providing precise measurements from 100 mW to 50 W while accommodating beam diameters that exceed the capabilities of conventional detectors.
With a 100 mm aperture, the UP100 can capture and measure large-area laser beams without sacrificing accuracy, making it an ideal solution for applications where beam size is large but power levels remain relatively low.
The UP100 is optimized for industries and applications requiring accurate characterization of divergent laser beams. It is particularly well suited for VCSEL lasers, laser diode array developers, medical and dermatology laser systems, and excimer lasers.
Whether measuring VCSEL arrays, diode-based illumination systems, skin-treatment lasers, or excimer laser sources, the UP100 provides reliable and repeatable measurement performance where traditional high-power detectors often lack the sensitivity required for low-power operation.
In addition to measuring laser power up to 50 W, the UP100 can also measure single-shot laser energies up to 700 J. This unique combination enables precise characterization of high-energy, low-repetition-rate laser sources such as excimer lasers.
The detector incorporates Gentec-EO's XNR Anticipation™ technology for faster measurement response, offers a broadband spectral range from 193 nm to 20 μm, and includes NIST-traceable calibration for confidence in measurement accuracy.
Despite its large aperture, the UP100 features an exceptionally compact design with a thickness of only 17 mm. This slim profile simplifies integration into production lines, automated test systems, and OEM laser equipment where space is limited.
Combined with Gentec-EO's proven thermopile technology, the detector delivers stable measurements while maintaining the robustness required for industrial and research environments.
The UP100 is fully compatible with PC-Gentec-EO software, allowing users to acquire, visualize, record, and analyze measurement data directly from a computer. This provides a complete solution for laser characterization, process monitoring, and research applications. For local display and data logging, the UP100 can also be paired with MIRO ALTITUDE, providing a compact and user-friendly solution for real-time laser measurement monitoring and data storage.
The UP100 is available now through Gentec-EO's global network of sales representatives and distributors. For more information about the UP100 and its applications, visit the Gentec-EO website or contact your local sales representative.
